Sacred Altars at Bắc Lệ Temple – A Diverse Spiritual System

Bắc Lệ Temple complex hosts a variety of altars reflecting the rich folk beliefs of the Northeast region. Besides the main altar of Mẫu Thượng Ngàn, the temple includes altars for Cô, Cậu, Sơn Trang, and other deities.
- Mẫu Thượng Ngàn Altar (Chúa Sơn Trang): The central altar worships Mẫu Thượng Ngàn, the goddess governing the mountains and forests, who protects people from disasters and diseases.
- Cô and Cậu Altars: These are guardian spirits protecting villagers and assisting devotees in prayers for fortune and blessings. They are also honored with special “hầu đồng” rituals.
- Sơn Trang Altar: Dedicated to mountain spirits, symbolizing gratitude toward nature and the land.
Each altar is uniquely decorated with a blend of carving artistry and floral motifs. Pilgrims can choose to light incense and pray according to their spiritual needs.
This system creates a multi-dimensional spiritual space where people find peace, psychological relief, and connection with their cultural roots.
